Binley Colliery impressionist


An industrial impressionist style painting with slightly impasto brushwork which captures the landscape of Binley colliery just a few years before it closed. Signed lower right “Juin Sept 1958”. Inscripton verso gives the title “Binley Colliery Coventry” and identifies the artist as June (Juin) Bradbury. Painted in oil onto Winsor & Newton oil sketching paper (which may have been previously used). Actual painting is 340 x 240 mm. Frame 538 x 438 mm. May be of interest to anyone who collects works by artists local to the Coventry and Leamington area, and to anyone who studies the industrial and coal-mining history of the Midlands.
