Watercolour dated lower left “April 22nd / 41”. Artist unknown. This is the town of Huy / Hui / Hu on the Meuse in Belgium. A modern inscription verso identifies the main building in this painting as the “wardens house” which was presumably a guard house at one of the entrances to the fortified town. A few people are visible outside the building. Also visible high up in the painting is the citadel “Li Tchestia”. Painting dimensions 142 x 189 mm. Also another watercolour, clearly by the same unidentified artist, dated lower right but year not visible, presumably also circa 1841, of another building, location unknown, painting dimensions 132 x 175 mm. . Both paintings are in modern frames each measuring 290 x 346mm.
